I am a researcher in the Technology and Empowerment (TEM) group at Microsoft Research India. My work focuses on healthcare technologies, spanning low-cost smartphone-based medical devices, LLM-powered chatbots that support different stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem, and medical image analysis.
To get a flavor of my research, I encourage you to explore SmartKC (opens in new tab), a smartphone-based portable corneal topographer for diagnosing keratoconus, and CataractBot (opens in new tab), a WhatsApp-based LLM-powered doctor-in-the-loop chatbot.
I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Washington (opens in new tab), where I worked at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on improving the interactivity, accessibility and security of conversational systems. During my Ph.D., I also worked as a Senior Research Engineer in the Cognitive IoT team at IBM Research India (opens in new tab). Prior to that, I earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto (opens in new tab), and a Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology from DA-IICT (opens in new tab). Over the past decade, I have worked on technological solutions for the developing regions focusing on Health, Sustainability, Education and Agriculture.
