The New York City Department of Environmental Protection delivers over a billion gallons of water to 9.6 million New Yorkers every day. The agency is responsible for treating 1.3 billion gallons of wastewater every day and maintaining 14 plants, 96 pumping stations, and 7,500 miles of sewers across New York City.
