The Microsoft Global Learning Connection (formerly Skype-a-Thon) event is almost here. Thousands of educators from more than 110 countries are preparing to connect their students with experts and classrooms around the world to share stories and cultural traditions, play games, and collaborate on projects.

I teach construction and technology to students ages 13 to 17 at Vechtdal College in the Netherlands. My hands-on lessons in woodworking, painting and working with heavy machinery prepare students for careers in the construction industry.
